Discussion 7/22

LinkOne of our members has just returned from seeing Thich Nhat Hanh at Plum Village in France. She will talking about her experience in August, when we set aside Shantideva until September.

The chapel will continue to be open in August and sangha members interested in meeting will engage in other activities, to be discussed at next week's session -- stay tuned!

This week's discussion brought up these books:
  • How to See Yourself as You Really Are, by His Holiness the Dalai Lama (you can read it in Google Books).
  • Light Comes Through, Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche (amazon).

Hi - In anticpation of next week's conversation about activities during the month of August I am proposing that we listen to a Pema Chodron audio DVD walking us through tonglen meditation the first week in August (Tuesday, Aug. 5th)

Jacky has offered to describe her recent experience at Plum Village and share some resources during the second week in August (August 12).

We will need access to some technology for both of these sessions: a DVD player for week 1 and a projector (?) for week 2. Any suggestions or offers of equipment would be most welcome.

Towards the end of next week's meeting let's discuss August programming and focus particularly on plans for the last 2 weeks in August.

Please feel free to contribute your comments and suggestions through this blog or bring them to next week's meeting.

Thanks
Pat Davidson

Tuesday night let's check, but I am pretty sure the TV in the Parlor room has a DVD underneath in the cabinet.

Pat, that sounds great.

Big thanks to Jacky and Kathy -- I think we will have lots to do in August.

Looking forward to it very much!

I'm sure you all have seen this, but Randy Pausch, age 47 Carnegie Mellon professor, died today of pancreatic cancer. There's a very popular YouTube video of his "Last Lecture."

Good reminder that you're a "buffalo sleeping next to a butcher"!
